Matcha means powder. It is a natural green tea and the best source is from Japan… which is where we get ours from! Matcha shakes are a powerhouse drink that helps support weight management, sustain energy, and reduce stress. It contains natural sweeteners- organic coconut sugar and stevia.

What are the benefits?

  • Naturally supports fat metabolism
  • Coconut sugar releases slowly into the blood stream for effective weight control (as well as a hint of stevia)
  • Aids in healthy digestion and cleansing
  • Enhances metabolism
  • Rich source of protein (20 grams per serving!!!)
  • Rich in antioxidants (100 times more than green tea)

Dr. Amber even drinks it!

Here’s how to get it:

Voitenko Wellness is happy to announce that we are now selling a proprietary blend of the most pure and natural form of matcha in a protein shake. Matcha is typically in the form of a green tea drink.  We have a blend that is a protein powder..the first of its kind!

Infant Colic

Treating Babies with Colic

ColicBaby

Mothers know how helplessly frustrating a colicky baby can be: The relentless crying that can’t seem to be remedied. Babies have brand new gastrointestinal systems, and with that come new difficult tasks for the new body. Babies with colic are often suffering from Infant Acid Reflux, painful gas and indigestion, constipation, or food sensitivities. While symptoms can be difficult to peg, babies with colic tend to have abrupt episodes of crying or wailing lasting more than 3 hours at a time, multiple times a week for several weeks.

With colicky babies, irritated nerves cause disturbances to the intestines, stomach, and other gastrointestinal organs leading to a build up of gas in the intestines. Chiropractic adjustments help restore communication and function of those nerves while eliminating pain from irritated nerves.

I specialize in using Light Force Technique adjustments and Activator Method to relieve colic in infants. If you think your baby is suffering from colic, call our clinic in Tustin @ 714 730 2225 to see how we can help.

Can Digestive Problems Lead to Disease

Leaky-Gut-Syndrome (1) What is Leaky Gut Syndrome?

Disruption of the gut lining can be caused by food intolerance, alcohol, stress, anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, candida, fatty acid deficiencies which lead to disruption of  the gut wall.  The disruption of the gut lining leads to improper absorption. Food is seen as an invader causing antibodies to be produced, inflaming the gut wall. Multiple food intolerances cause these antibodies. These antibodies form a complex with food, then are deposited in gut tissue which lead to gut inflammation.

An inflamed gut causes nutrients and waste to leak from the gut and worsens improper absorption and more antibodies are produced leading to leaky gut syndrome.

Signs of leaky gut syndrome include digestive issues like bloating, gas, diarrhea, or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).  Seasonal allergies or asthma can also be a sign. If you have hormonal imbalances like polycystic ovary disease or PMS, an autoimmune disease such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, celiac disease, psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis, or if you have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, or candida, these are all indicators that you may be suffering from leaky gut syndrome.

The solution to repairing your gut is to have a clean way of eating. You want to focus on an anti-inflammatory diet. Simply put, your diet should consist of protein, vegetables, and a little bit of fruit. You should avoid grains, dairy, prepared and processed food products, as well as meats with antibiotics or hormones. There are other foods that may need to be avoided as well depending on one’s health history. There are certain supplements and vitamins that can help speed up the repair of the gut wall.

At Voitenko Wellness we do a through consultation and examination to help create a plan of attack. The goal is to create optimum health to help bring back quality of life.

Foods that put your metabolism in the fast lane…strawberries apples healthy eating

Here are five foods to boost your metabolism and help you to stay fit.

  1. Broccoli is a wonderful metabolism booster. It also provides the body with a combination of vitamin C and calcium. Can’t go wromg with the green trees.
  2. Ginger is another wonderful choice. It can be put into dishes to spice it up. You can make tea with ginger. You can also eat it pickled! Ginger can boost metabolic rate up to 20% in three hours.
  3. Apples contain pectin which boosts metabolic rate. Also a great choice for an antioxidant! It fights free radicals, which can cause damage to the body leading to disease. “An Apple a day keeps the doctor away!”
  4. Strawberries are also a good choice as they aid in digestion and help in the bowel.
  5. Almonds contain manganese, copper, and riboflavin which aid in metabolic rate. Almonds also contain essential fatty acids that reduce inflammation and levels of “bad” cholesterol.

Hope this helps to give you some good ideas for snacks and foods that put your metabolism in the fast lane!

We would love to help you and your journey to stay fit and boost your metabolism.

How do you know if you are sensitive to gluten?

Is a gluten-free diet for Me?

wheat-995055_1280

In today’s world ‘gluten-free’ is a popular buzzword, and becoming a trendy lifestyle–but how do you determine if this lifestyle is one that you should practice?

Do you suffer from bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, or abdominal pain?

If so, you might be experiencing gluten intolerance. There are specific tests that can be done to identify if you are gluten intolerant.

Several studies show that salivary IgA Antigliadin and anti-transglutaminase Antibodies could predict forthcoming gluten sensitivity and Celiac disease.

Leaky Gut, for example, is an autoimmune disease and the third leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the Industrialized world, and is 10 times more common in those with Celiac disease than in the general population. Thus, the burden on society from gluten sensitivity cannot be overestimated. Early identification might result in early treatment, a better quality of life, and an improved prognosis for you.

At Voitenko Wellness we specialize in digestive disorders and we would like to help you identify what may be causing your digestive problems.

The Six Musts

By Dr. Amber Voitenko
 on April 23, 2021
with 1 comment

Ever Wondered How You Can BEST Support Your Body?…Here are 6 MUSTS For a Healthy Body!

When talking to my patients, I suggest that they support their bodies with five different supplements. Did you know that there are over 82,000 toxins that we are exposed to every week? Toxins come from increased radiation exposure from the sun, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. It is important to increase antioxidants such as Omegas 3, 6 and 9, to support your immune system and help your body handle free radicals.

Our adrenal glands, also known as stress glands, help our bodies handle stress. In our society of GO GO GO, it is a must to support these glands. There are adrenal support supplements to help you help your body.

The food we eat is also problematic. The ways in which our food is farmed and raised and how we have treated our soils have significantly reduced the amount of nutrients available to use, even when we are carful to eat in a healthful way. All of our food has been altered in some way, shape or form. Taking a probiotic and digestive enzymes can help our bodies absorb the maximum amount of nutrition from these nutritionally depleted foods. They also help fight free radicals from the toxins in our environment.

My suggestion is that all people support their bodies with a daily multivitamin, probiotics, digestive enzymes, adrenal support and antioxidants for longevity and wellness.

A sixth must is regular movement and exercise. It doesn’t have to mean hours at the gym. A California study found that a 10 minute walk is enough to increase energy, alter mood and effect a positive outlook for up to two hours.

Parasites. Can’t live with them, can’t live without them…or wait!

Do you suffer with hives, intestinal troubles, stomach pain, fatigue, anemia and/or rashes? If so, this may be due to parasites in your body.

Did you know and estimated 90% of the North American Population as at least one type of parasite? Parasites are found in soil, water and uncooked or undercooked foods. You can live without them.

Here’s how…there are certain herbs that make it hard for parasites to survive in your intestines. Herb extracts such as Yerba Mansa, Wormwood, Black Walnut, Olive Leaf, Oregano and Cat’s Claw all have anti-parasitic properties. Voitenko Wellness can help figure out if you are suffering from parasites and help  you rid your body of parasites with specific proprietary supplements.

What is Leaky Gut Syndrome?

By Dr. Amber Voitenko

Understanding Leaky Gut Syndrome, the Causes and What You Can Do To Avoid It

The symptoms of Leaky Gut Syndrome are common but they are NOT normal. They may include bloating, gas, cramping, food sensitivities and aches and pains. What is causing this to happen? Your intestinal lining may be in need of repair and detox. When the intestine is not healthy the junctions between cells are compromised and toxins, bacteria and other pathogens can escape into your system, you are unable to digest food properly which leads to malnutrition and your immune system is compromised.

Do you have these symptoms or have you already been told you have Leaky Gut Syndrome? There is a strong correlation with Leaky Gut Syndrome and food allergies and intolerance, the most common being Gluten Intolerance or Celiac Disease. Removing Gluten from your diet may be the answer to starting your way back to health in your gut and overall wellness.
