Shoulder, Arm, and Hand Injuries

shoulder and back pain

Fighting Extremity Injuries Through Chiropractic

Many people face chronic pain from unresolved shoulder, arm, and hand injuries like bursitis, neuritis, neuralgia, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tears, carpal tunnel, and fibrositis. These injuries can cause long term, recurring pain because the area of injury is weakened.

How do you know something is wrong? When you get pain sensors forcing your attention to the body part in question, the brain is communicating via billions of nerves that extend from the brain through the entire body, branching off to our different organs, muscles, tissues.

In the case of shoulder, arm, or hand pain, it is commonly a brachial plexus injury. The brachial plexus is an intricate network of nerves in the back and neck which can become irritated or inflamed due to trauma, injury, or misalignment of the spine. Injury to the brachial plexus nerves can result in muscle weakness, shoulder or neck stiffness, pain (radiating or pinpointed), numbness, or “pins and needles” nerve sensations. Severe injuries to this region can also result in dizziness, headaches, and limited mobility.

A technique called muscle stripping can be coupled with chiropractic adjustments at our office to effectively treat these injuries and prevent symptoms from returning.

Chiropractic adjustments have been well-documented in correcting shoulder, arm, and hand injuries, but waiting until the need for correction is never the best choice. It is always important to take precautions to prevent injuries from occurring. You can keep your body strong and more resilient to trauma by strengthening weak muscles with exercise, fueling your body with the nutrients it needs to heal itself, and getting regular adjustments to prevent damage to the spine and nervous system.

LED Infrared Light Therapy… Fight Pain and Speed Up Healing!

You may not know about the amazing uses of LED infrared light for common injuries and conditions that cause people pain, nerve damage, muscular damage, and inflammation! It enhances the body’s ability to heal itself by emitting a light that penetrates deeply beneath the skin. It is then absorbed by the mitochondria of the cells. This also causes an increase in production of collagen and protein in the cells. It proves especially beneficial for chronic pain and injuries. Many patients find quick pain relief caused by debilitating chronic diseases with this technique and see improved functionality in little to no time after treatments. Damaged tissue repairs faster and stronger with the aid of LED infrared light. Not only does recent research support these findings, it supports increased functionality of the injury or area in pain as well as improved range of motion.

LED Infrared Light helps a wide range of injuries and conditions including:

-Peripheral Neuropathy        -Carpal Tunnel Syndrome                   -Sports Injuries

-Bursitis                    -Fibromyalgia                                 -Repetitive Stress Syndrome

-Tendonitis              -Bursitis & Frozen Shoulder          -Post-Operative Healing

-Diabetic foot                 -Migraines/Headaches                 -Sprains & Strains

-Tennis Elbow                 -TMJ & Jaw Pain                       -Chronic Back & Neck Pain

Double Crush Syndrome or Carpal Tunnel

doublecrushPinched Median Nerve…

Identifying the reason why one has symptoms is important when it comes to carpal tunnel. Double crush syndrome can be the reason why one has wrist pain. Double crush syndrome is often misdiagnosed as carpal tunnel. Double crush syndrome can be treated successfully with chiropractic care and innovative muscle therapy, such as Rapid Release Technology, Active Release Technique, or FDA approved Cold Laser.

Before surgery for carpal tunnel one should look into the possibility of the problem of a compromised median nerve in the cervical spine. This can be due to an old whiplash injury, bad posture in the work place, and even osteoarthritis.

A thorough examination, as well as x-ray and even MRI studies, doing specific neurological and orthopedic tests can help identify the problem.

Don’t Put A Band Aid On Your Symptoms

Michael Had Been in Constant Pain…

Michael has had constant pain in his wrists, hands, shoulders, knees, and feet for years. He has had muscle tension and tightness in his low back. He attended 24 physical therapy treatments and the pain still persisted. He was taking 4 to 8 Ibuprofen a day. He also had to stop yoga practice.

Michael has now gone down to two ibuprofen per day and has less pain in his hands, no foot pain, and less pain in his shoulders and body. He’s very pleased with the chiropractic treatment plan Dr. Amber prescribed. He has received gentle chiropractic adjustments as well as vibration therapy for muscle tension and scar tissue. He is looking forward to returning to yoga practice.

Why are we so depleted in Vitamin D?

By Dr. Amber Voitenko

Isn’t the sun good for us?

We have been told about the damaging effects of the sun so many of us use UV sun protection. Years and years ago we were working outside in the sun not using UV protection. Our bodies were able to produce enough Vitamin D. In a short period of time we would be able to absorb between 10,000 and 20,000 IU’s of Vitamin D from working outside. So, we need sun. We are just not getting enough Vitamin D and Vitamin D is so important.

Vitamin D helps prevent abnormal cell growth, bone loss, osteoarthritis, and infection. It has also been found in research that Vitamin D is beneficial in preventing heart disease. Besides all of the important jobs Vitamin D has to offer the body, it has been found in recent studies that it can help fight and prevent cancer.

85% of our population is deficient in Vitamin D! Children can also be deficient, not just adults.

Even though the body is built to get Vitamin D through the skin, you also can get it through your mouth. Vitamin D super foods include salmon (especially wild-caught) or mackerel (especially wild-caught). Other sources include tuna, sardines, cod liver oil,
and egg yolks.

NEW TECHNOLOGY–Rapid Release Technology

Breakthrough Technology Relieves Common and Sometimes Untreatable Recurring Pain Caused by Scar Tissue

One of the many therapies offered at Voitenko Wellness is Rapid Release Technology. You may have never heard of this therapy before, or maybe you have and are wondering what it is. Rapid Release Technology (RRT) is a new, innovative technology that relieves the pain caused by soft tissue scar adhesions. It is perfect for people suffering from:

  • Sciatica
  • Rotator Cuff Injuries
  • Sprain/Strains of the shoulder, hip, knees, ankles
  • Nerve Entrapment
  • Arthritis
  • Limited Range of Motion
  • Muscle Spasms
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Tendonitis
  • Tennis Elbow

Scar tissue forms in the body as a temporary patching mechanism for wounds caused by surgery, trauma and/or repetitive stress. This scar tissue can connect tissues that are not normally connected and these connections are called adhesions. Adhesions can entrap nerves, cause pain or numbness and limit ones range of motion. RRT uses vibratory therapy that targets these adhesions and breaks up the scar tissue that relieving pain in a quick, safe, comfortable, affordable and non-pharmaceutical method.

Are you suffering from pain? Do you want to treat the underlying cause of the pain rather than mask it with medications?
